How we helped Dogs for Good's Philanthropy & Partnerships team use LinkedIn with clarity and confidence
The backstory
Dogs for Good is a UK charity that trains dogs to change the lives of people with disabilities and other challenges.
Their Philanthropy & Partnerships (PaP) team plays a vital role in securing the funding and relationships needed to keep that mission moving forward.
They knew LinkedIn had a much bigger role to play in their work - helping them reach corporate partners, major donors, trusts and philanthropists.
But without a shared, practical approach, activity had become inconsistent and easy to deprioritise.
The team needed a shared understanding of how LinkedIn could directly support their PaP goals, plus the confidence to actually use it. Without that, LinkedIn was at risk of remaining an underutilised tool.
How it went down
A full-day LinkedIn workshop
We delivered a hands-on, in-person training day at Dogs for Good's HQ in Banbury - built around the PaP team's specific goals and how LinkedIn could support their fundraising and partnerships work.
The day covered:
Understanding LinkedIn as a strategic networking tool - and where it fits within PaP work
Optimising profiles so each team member comes across as credible, warm and worth connecting with
Getting into the right rooms - using advanced search and smart connection strategies to reach the right people
Building and maintaining relationships through low-effort, high-impact engagement habits
Publishing with confidence - helping each person find your voice
Quarterly LinkedIn check-ins
To keep the momentum going, we also set up quarterly 60-minute online consultations - protected space for the team to reflect, share learnings, unblock hesitations and keep refining how LinkedIn supports their relationship-building goals
The results
The team left the day energised and equipped. Here’s what changed:
Updated, optimised profiles that accurately reflect each person’s role and the Dogs for Good mission
A clear, shared networking strategy the whole team can use consistently
More publishing and quality engagement - with the confidence and structure to keep it going
Others in the organisation inspired to use their own LinkedIn strategically.
Here’s what they said
“Social for Good are really collaborative in their approach - we’ve worked with them on multiple projects and with each they’ve taken their time to get to know our goals and aims, and tailored how they work with us depending on those aims. They’re great at suggesting alternative solutions or creative ideas, using their expertise to guide us in the right direction.
We recently had a LinkedIn training workshop with Kerry which we found really useful - the topics covered were pitched just right and it was a good mix of practical tips and strategic thinking. The team came away feeling very motivated about all the ways we can use LinkedIn as part of our roles at DFG.”
