Social media users, marketers, organisations, we can all collectively agree that we’re tired. Algorithms keep changing, engagement rates are dropping, and it feels like the social media rulebook is being rewritten every week.
But, it’s a new year - which means a new wave of optimism, ideas and innovation.
This report isn’t like many others you’ll see at this time of year. It isn’t going to give you target engagement rates or recommended content formats because, as we know, all it takes is an algorithm update or an Instagram post from Adam Mosseri to set you back to square one.
Instead, we’ve identified and built three themes that should guide your social media strategy over the next 12 months. It’s based on a combination of data insights, cultural and behavioural analysis, the collective experience of the Social for Good team and the many charities and purpose-driven organisations we’ve worked with in 2025.
