Social media marketing for NGOs

Non-profit marketing that makes a difference

Social media strategy isn’t a one-size-fits-all. The winning social media strategy for your NGO will be entirely unique to you. We can help you to find it and harness it.

We have experience in working with NGOs, so we understand that your social media objectives have a very different focus. Your strategy has to show demonstrable results and impact on your organisation’s goals.

That’s where we come in: we make your social media shine, giving you the confidence to deliver great results for the future and creating impact where it matters.

Benefits of social media for NGOs

Raising awareness

Social media can help you get your message out into the world. The more people know and understand about your mission, the more they will care.

Engagement and advocacy

Social media gives you the ability to start conversations, interact with key stakeholders and your community, and inspire action. Every comment, share, and like brings people closer to your mission.

Fundraising opportunities

From social media’s built-in donation tools to the sheer power of storytelling, social media helps you to efficiently reach potential donors. When your social media activity has strong reach, small donations can add up surprisingly quickly.

Authenticity and credibility

Showing the faces behind the organisation can help people to emotionally connect with your mission. Authenticity and connection can go a long way in strengthening trust with your audience.

Challenges NGOs face in social media

Limited Resources

NGOs that operate with small teams and tight budgets can find it tough to keep up with social media, leading to infrequent posting and a lack of engagement.

Low Visibility and Engagement

When posts fail to reach or resonate with your target audience or get lost in the crowd, these social channels often have a low reach, little interaction, and slow follower growth.

Inconsistent Branding and Messaging

When your content looks or sounds different across different social media platforms, this can confuse people about your NGO’s mission, leading to reduced trust and reputation.

Measuring Impact

Without the right tools, it can be difficult to know whether your social strategy is making a difference. This can make it hard to justify social media investment.

Case studies

Don’t just take it from us - here are some real-life examples of charities we have helped with our social media management.

We worked closely with Frontline AIDS, the world’s largest partnership of community organisations working to end AIDS, to amplify their mission of ending AIDS for everyone, everywhere, and to give them confidence that their social activity was driving impact.

Over the course of three workshops spanning objectives, audiences, brand, content, and much more, we got all the key stakeholders involved from across the organisation to ensure we were aligned on what we were trying to achieve, and all voices were heard. This helped the Frontline AIDS team to feel ownership of their social strategy as they had co-created it, from start to finish.

Our time working together with Frontline Aids resulted in:

  • A detailed audit and understanding of the effectiveness of each network, type of content, and audience for Frontline AIDS

  • A complete social media strategy focused on raising awareness and driving impact

  • A bespoke social media planning template for the team to collaborate on

  • A bank of evergreen content

Your Questions, Answered

  • Every social media channel reaches a different kind of audience and serves a different purpose, meaning each social media channel can serve NGOs in different ways. Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn are an excellent starting point.

  • From increasing visibility and sharing valuable content to showcasing your work and highlighting your impact, social media can be invaluable for NGOs.

  • The single most important factor is authenticity. Whilst many think they need to go viral and disrupt the social media landscape, the thing that will be most likely to connect you with the right crowd is personable, genuine content that actually matters to people.

  • We contribute 1% of our annual profits to charities; so far in 2025, we’ve donated £900 to MIND. We also offer support to grass roots charities through free training on our Accelerator programme.

  • We’re based on The Lanes in the heart of Brighton. Whilst we really enjoy collaborating with local businesses, we are proud to work with companies and organisations from all over the UK and beyond.

You want better social. We do better social. It’s a match.
